Sens sign veteran d-man Johnson, re-up with Dziurzynski

Ottawa made a pair of depth moves on Thursday, bringing longtime NHL defenseman Aaron Johnson into the fold while inking David Dziurzynski to a two-year extension.

Johnson, 31, was signed to a one-year, two-way deal. The former Blue Jacket, Islander, Blackhawk, Flame and Oiler has appeared in 291 career games -- including 10 with Boston during the lockout-shortened ’13 campaign -- and spent last year with the Rangers’ AHL affiliate in Hartford, racking up 40 points in 75 contests.

Dziurzynski, 24, made his debut with the Sens in ’13 but spent all of last year with AHL Binghamton. He’s perhaps best remembered for being on the wrong end of a fight with Toronto’s Frazen McLaren last March:

Dziurzynski’s deal is a two-year, two-way contract. No word on the financials yet for either guy.
