Seidenberg (knee) should be ready for training camp

The Bruins were dealt a major blow when defenseman Dennis Seidenberg tore his ACL and MCL. He had surgery in early January and still hasn’t made a complete recovery, but he might have played in the postseason anyways had Boston advanced past the second round.

“I was hoping to play at some point, but it wasn’t meant to be,” said Seidenberg, per CSN New England. “We would have had some practices after Round 2, and would have seen how I was doing taking some contact and battling a little harder. There definitely would have been a chance [for a return].”

Now he has plenty of time to focus on getting to 100 percent. He should be fine for training camp, just in time for the start of his four-year, $16 million contract.

With Seidenberg back, the Bruins blueline will look far more formidable. He will lead the defense along with Zdeno Chara, which will take some of the pressure off of 23-year-old Torey Krug and 20-year-old Dougie Hamilton.
