Video: Blackhawks take the lead with two quick goals in Game 6

Screen Shot 2014-05-30 at 7.28.20 PM

The Chicago Blackhawks fancy themselves a resilient team.

Well, needing a win to avoid elimination from the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs, and trailing the L.A. Kings after the first period of Game 6, the Blackhawks got two quick goals from Patrick Kane on the power play and then Ben Smith in a matter of 1:37 to take a 2-1 lead early in the second period.

Here is the Kane goal. It’s his first of this Western Conference Final.

Here is the Smith goal. It seemed like he faked himself out on the initial move against goalie Jonathan Quick, but, from below the goal line, he threw the puck off the back leg of Quick and in for his fourth goal of this post-season.

Now, the Blackhawks did have a chance almost immediately after their second goal to increase their lead by a pair, had it not been for a great save from Quick, who got some help from his cross bar, too.
