Tuesday’s wild third period in Game 5 of the Rangers-Canadiens series has left the NHL’s Department of Player Safety with plenty to review today.
Per TVA’s Renaud Lavoie, the league is looking into a pair of incidents that occurred late in the game -- Rene Bourque’s cross-check on Derek Dorsett at the final horn (Bourque was given a five-minute major and game misconduct):
Lavoie also reports the league will be reviewing Dorsett’s headbutt on Mike Weaver:
Dorsett head-butted Weaver with 34 secs left. “That’s the type of player he is, a guy who runs around with his head cut off,” Weaver said.

In related news, the league has already scheduled a disciplinary hearing for Rangers defenseman John Moore, who was given a match penalty midway through the third period for this hit on Montreal forward Dale Weise:
According to ESPN New York, Moore’s hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m today.
