Avs captain Landeskog played with injured hand

Minnesota Wild v Colorado Avalanche - Game Five

Game Five of the First Round of the 2014 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Pepsi Center on April 26, 2014 in Denver, Colorado. The Avalanche defeated the Wild 4-3 in overtime to take a 3-2 game lead in the series.

Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog had three goals and four points in the seven-game loss to the Minnesota Wild, and if he seemed off later in the series, there’s a good reason.

Adrian Dater of The Denver Post says Landeskog played through an injured hand in the final few games against the Wild. Dater suspects it could’ve happened in Game 3 when he was slashed by Wild forward Matt Cooke.

Landeskog, 21, made his first appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season and got off to a hot start against the Wild before apparently being injured.

As a result of the injury, Landeskog won’t be joining Sweden at the World Championships in Belarus. The Avalanche are likely very OK with that decision.
