We’ve got ourselves a series.
That was the major development from the first period of Dallas-Anaheim Game 2, as the teams showed major dislike for one another in an opening frame that featured 10 penalty minutes, 31 hits and plenty of angst.
Things kicked off at the 7:25 mark when Corey Perry was given a “slashing” penalty for this spear on Dallas captain Jamie Benn:
Dallas would capitalize on the ensuing power play, with Alex Chiasson scoring his first-ever playoff goal...but the Stars’ revenge wasn’t done there.
At the 14:47 mark, Trevor Daley received a roughing minor after mugging Perry in the crease following a save from Kari Lehtonen:
This time, it was the Ducks exacting revenge as captain Ryan Getzlaf -- stitched-up face and all -- scored on the power play to even things up at one.
Stay tuned...still two periods to go.
