San Jose Sharks prospect Mirco Mueller is on his way to the Worcester Sharks in the American Hockey League, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
“He’s a world-class skater,” Sharks general manager Doug Wilson told the San Jose Mercury News. “His hockey sense — he’s very mature in how he plays the game. He fits with how the game is playing being played in this league right now. We have very high expectations for him.”
The Sharks selected Mueller, a now 19-year-old defenseman from Switzerland, with the 18th overall pick in last June’s NHL Draft.
He has spent the last two seasons with the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League, scoring a combined 11 goals and 58 points in 123 regular season games. The Silvertips were recently eliminated from the WHL playoffs in the first round.
