The Edmonton Oilers announced that their captain Andrew Ference won’t play against the New York Rangers on Sunday because of a chest injury.
To put things mildly, this game matters a lot more for the Rangers than it does for the Oilers, so it makes sense that they’re allowing the veteran defenseman to heal up.
Ference, 35, has appeared in 71 of the Oilers’ 73 games so far in 2013-14, generating 18 points with a -18 rating and 63 penalty minutes.
