The Anaheim Ducks, a team with a long history of success in signing college free agents, have inked Alaska-Anchorage senior forward Matt Bailey to a two-year, two-way deal worth $1.38 million, per TVA’s Renaud Lavoie.
Bailey, 22, has spent the last four years at Anchorage-Alaska after spending time with both Tri-City and Sioux Falls of the USHL. This year he had 20 goals and 38 points in 38 games, earning first-team All-WCHA honors.
As mentioned, the Ducks have a long history with unearthing collegiate players that went undrafted, like Bailey. Former Alaska-Anchorage product Curtis Glencross broke in with the Ducks after signing as a free agent in 2004, and the club’s also gave the likes of Dustin Penner (signed out of the University of Maine) and Chris Kunitz (signed out of Ferris State) their NHL starts.
