Veteran forward and two-time Stanley Cup champion Colin Fraser suffered a broken hand while playing for Los Angeles’ AHL affiliate in Manchester, LA Kings Insider reports.
Fraser, 29, had been playing for the Monarchs since the Olympic break, this after falling out of the Kings’ regular lineup rotation and being placed on waivers in early February. The gritty forward is expected to rejoin the Kings during the playoffs when there are no salary cap restrictions -- he has an $825,000 cap hit -- but will miss the next 4-6 weeks of action while his hand heals.
Fraser has appeared in 33 games for the Kings this year, scoring two points. He was part of the L.A. team that captured the Stanley Cup in 2012, and had a career year during Chicago’s championship season in 2010, scoring 19 points in 70 regular season games.
