Bit of a slow morning in terms of NHL news, so thought I’d throw out some numbers for discussion. Following are the top 10 and bottom 10 goalies in terms of even-strength save percentages this season, with a minimum of 20 starts.

Top 10

1. Tuukka Rask .940 (49 starts)
2. Josh Harding .940 (26)
3. Darcy Kuemper .937 (20)
4. Ben Bishop .936 (51)
5. Anton Khudobin .936 (24)
6. Jonathan Bernier .935 (44)
7. Carey Price .933 (48)
8. Ben Scrivens .933 (26)
9. Semyon Varlamov .932 (49)
10. Jonathan Quick .930 (38)

Notes:

---Kuemper had a solid bounce-back performance last night versus the Rangers. At this point, he’s the man for Minnesota. Lots of pressure for a 23-year-old rookie who spent time in the ECHL last season.

--- Three of the top 10 (Rask, Bernier, and Scrivens) have spent time in the Leafs’ organization, with Bernier of course still being in it. James Reimer (.926 EV SV%, 24 starts) barely missed cracking the top 10.

--- Three of the top 10 (Bernier, Scrivens, Quick) have spent time in the King’ organization, with Quick of course still being in it.

--- Of all the goalies in the top 10, Varlamov has made the most even-strength saves, with 1,262. (We talked about his importance to the Avs in yesterday’s PHT Extra.)

--- Khudobin and Scrivens are the only goalies in the top 10 who play for teams not currently in a playoff position. And most of Scrivens’ numbers were compiled with the Kings.

Bottom 10

1. Devan Dubnyk .898 (31)
2. Kevin Poulin .900 (26)
3. Reto Berra .903 (27)
4. Marek Mazanec .904 (22)
5. Martin Brodeur .904 (32)
6. Cam Ward .906 (22)
7. Carter Hutton .910 (29)
8. Ondrej Pavelec .910 (51)
9. Evgeni Nabokov .911 (33)
10. Cory Schneider .913 (34)

Note:

--- Two Islanders goalies, two Predators goalies, and two Devils goalies in the bottom 10. None of those three teams are currently in a playoff position.
