Video: Stars retire Mike Modano’s jersey

The Dallas Stars retired Mike Modano’s No. 9 on Saturday, continuing a nostalgia-tinged few days that also included ceremonies for Nicklas Lidstrom in Detroit and Modano’s former teammate Joe Nieuwendyk in Calgary. Fittingly, Modano’s Stars played against the team located in the city that drafted him, as they faced the Minnesota Wild.*

Here’s video of a ceremony that celebrated one of the greatest U.S.-born players in hockey history:

* - You can’t say these were the only cities where Modano played, however, as his career ended with the Detroit Red Wings. The less said about that, the better.
