The Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t won a game since the NHL returned from the 2014 Olympics. The Columbus Blue Jackets extended their losing streak to three games by a score of 2-1 on Monday, ending the Leafs’ seven-game home winning streak in the process.

The Blue Jackets also improved their position in the wild card race, as well. Here is how that race looks like as of Monday evening:

Two wild card teams

Toronto: 72 points in 63 games played
Detroit: 68 points in 60 GP

Bubble teams (for the sake of simplicity, 60 points will act as the cutoff)

Washington: 68 points in 62 GP
Columbus: 67 points in 61 GP
Ottawa: 65 points in 61 GP
New Jersey: 65 points in 62 GP
Carolina: 61 points in 61 GP

If the Blue Jackets manage to bump the Maple Leafs out of the playoff picture once the regular season wraps up, their season series might ranks as one of the leading reasons why. Columbus has won all three meetings against Toronto.

Sergei Bobrovsky enjoyed a strong game and a few fortunate bounces:

It wasn’t all good news for the Blue Jackets, however, as Ryan Murray suffered a lower-body injury. The latest update indicates that it could end up being a season-ending concern, according to the Columbus Dispatch’s Aaron Portzline.
