Goalie interference penalties/disallowed goals rank pretty high on the list of things that leave fans and NHL teams livid. It’s probably an understatement to say that the Minnesota Wild have a strong case that this goal should have counted against the Vancouver Canucks on Friday:
There was no penalty on the play, but again, the goal was disallowed. Officiating supervisor Mick McGeough acknowledged Brad Meier’s mistake on Friday:
I just interviewed Mick McGeough. He admits ref Brad Meier blew the call. "Good screen. Met the criteria for a good goal." #mnwild #nhl

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s Michael Russo adds some background, including the fact that Wild GM Chuck Fletcher took issue with the call.
#mnwild GM Chuck Fletcher immediately headed to talk to Supervisor Mick McGeough about the no goal. They're still talking

Russo provided a frank discussion of official Brad Meier’s call, as well:
I've covered the NHL 19 years. I have never seen anything like that. Meier is staring at crease, Lack isn't touched, he delays, waves it off

Later on in the game, Zach Parise scored his 20th goal of the season thanks in part to Dany Heatley screening Eddie Lack. There was no goalie interference call on that one.
