Will Ryan Kesler’s name be added to the list of players that will miss NHL games as a result of the 2014 Winter Olympics?
While playing for the United States, Kesler appeared to hurt his hand when he blocked a shot from Russia’s Ilya Kovalchuk on Feb. 15. Kesler continued to play in the tournament despite the fact that his hand was bandaged, but he’s undergone an MRI now that he’s back in Vancouver.
“He was in this morning and had some work done; we’ll see how he is (Tuesday),” said Canucks coach John Tortorella, according to the Vancouver Province. “I’m not overly concerned about him missing a couple of days of practice.”
That being said, the Canucks have already called up 24-year-old forward Kellan Lain.
Kesler leads all Vancouver forwards in playing time and ranks just behind the Sedin twins in the Canucks’ scoring race with 38 points in 60 games.
