It’s been 20 years since the Vancouver Canucks made what was their second trip in franchise history to the Stanley Cup Final.
A number of players from that team will be reunited at the upcoming Heritage Classic between the Canucks and Ottawa Senators at BC Place Stadium on March 2.
The Canucks, who made it to Game 7 of the championship series against the New York Rangers but lost in the final game in 1994, made the announcement on Wednesday morning.
The list of players coming out for that day will be goalie Kirk McLean, captain Trevor Linden, Cliff Ronning, Geoff Courtnall and head coach Pat Quinn. There is one notable omission from that list: Pavel Bure, often referred to as the Russian Rocket.
After much debate amongst hockey fans in Vancouver, the Canucks finally retired Bure’s No. 10 jersey to the rafters at Rogers Arena in November.
