Video: Minor league journeyman Julien Brouillette scores first NHL goal

Screen Shot 2014-02-08 at 7.23.29 PM

Last season, Julien Brouillette spent time between the American Hockey League and the East Coast Hockey League. It appeared seemingly unlikely that the next year, he’d be playing in the National Hockey League.

On Saturday, the 27-year-old defenseman, who has spent his professional career up and down between the AHL and ECHL, scored his first career NHL goal - a wrist shot from the point that beat New Jersey Devils’ goalie Cory Schneider just past the midway point of the third period. It comes in just Brouillette’s second career NHL game.

It stood as the winner, as Brouillette and the Washington Capitals scored all three of their goals in the third period for a 3-0 victory over the Devils. They’ll into the Olympic break on a winning note.
