The San Jose Sharks’ pre-Olympic schedule is completed, so those that aren’t going to Sochi will get some time off to rejuvenate before the final push.

Defenseman Dan Boyle needs the breather more than most. He’s been playing through a thumb injury that he sustained on Jan. 29, according to CSN Bay Area’s source. That didn’t stop Boyle from logging at least 21 minutes in four of his last five contests.

Boyle playing at something less than 100% is becoming a running theme this season. He admitted in mid-January that he came back from a concussion too soon. When he first returned from the head injury, he was still having a lot of trouble sleeping and his appetite was gone.

The 37-year-old is expected to be okay to play by the time the Sharks resume their schedule on Feb. 27.
