Vladimir Sobotka has been placed on injured reserve with a leg injury, which will cause him to miss the upcoming Sochi Olympics, the St. Louis Blues announced on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Sobotka was going to get further evaluated on Sunday.
Sobotka, 26, was named to the Czech Republic’s roster for the Olympic hockey tournament, however the Blues stated that he’ll be re-evaluated in four weeks. The injury occurred late in the third period of Friday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
In 46 games with the Blues this season, Sobotka has scored seven goals and 25 points.
The Blues host the Nashville Predators on Saturday. As per Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Ryan Reaves will take Sobotka’s place in the Blues’ lineup against the Predators.
The sense this morning was that Sobotka was day-to-day until further evaluation. I'm hearing now that Sobotka has a broken kneecap #stlblues
