Bishop stifles Rangers in return for Tampa Bay

The New York Rangers came into Tuesday’s game against the Lightning riding high, but they couldn’t rise above Ben Bishop’s strong work in his return from injury, as Tampa Bay won 2-1.

(Sorry, the 6-foot-7 goalie has been sidelined since Jan. 5, so it seemed appropriate to dust off a couple references to his height.)

The Rangers kept steady pressure on the 27-year-old, but Bishop was up to the task, making 33 out of 34 saves. Victor Hedman was the other Lightning player with a standout night, as he shook off a hand injury to score on a blistering slapper:

The Lightning traded off wins and losses in Bishop’s absence, but again, the Rangers were rolling coming into tonight’s game. They had won three in a row, four of five and eight of 11 before tonight’s defeat.
