Jaromir Jagr isn’t the only New Jersey Devils player in his 40s that’s interested in extending his career, accord to the Bergen Record.

Although many have assumed that this will be Martin Brodeur’s last season, the 41-year-old goaltender admitted that if it were up to his heart, he would play in 2014-15.

“My body could be a different story,” Brodeur added. “We’ll see.”

Brodeur is showing his age, but he’s remained solid and would probably be able to get a one-year contract. The question is if it would be with New Jersey, given that the team is likely to shift its focus to Cory Schneider beyond the 2013-14 campaign.

Although he has spent his entire career with New Jersey, Brodeur isn’t against signing with another club if he decides that he wants to play and the Devils no long appear to be a good fit.

“But right now my heart is here to try to finish strong and prove that I can still be a big impact in hockey games,” Brodeur said.
