Doan will indeed play for Coyotes, Ekman-Larsson won’t

The Phoenix Coyotes will get captain Shane Doan back against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, but it’s not all good news, as Oliver Ekman-Larsson won’t play because of an upper-body injury.

On the bright side, Ekman-Larsson might not be sidelined for too long. Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett estimated that the 22-year-old could be back as soon as Tuesday’s game against the Calgary Flames.

The Columbus Blue Jackets’ Derek McKenzie received a three-game suspension for this check on “OEL,” which hurt the talented Swedish blueliner:

Doan, 37, was just cleared on Friday after being sidelined since Dec. 4 with Rocky Mountain fever.

The Flyers have been a little banged-up in their own right lately, with Matt Read and Michael Raffl facing ailments of their own. Both teams hope to avoid two-game losing streaks tonight.
