Kings ‘got smoked’ by Blues for fifth straight loss

DrewDoughty

The L.A. Kings and St. Louis Blues have played some close, fiercely competitive games against each other in recent memory, including back to their playoff series last spring.

There was nothing of the sort Thursday, as the Blues crushed the Kings 5-0, with goalie Brian Elliott making 30 saves for the shutout.

The Kings, one point ahead of the Vancouver Canucks for the third spot in the Pacific Division, have lost five consecutive games, including Thursday’s defeat.

“When our team is playing with confidence–throughout the whole lineup –we’re an amazing team. We’ve got to remember that,” said Kings defenseman Drew Doughty, as per Lisa Dillman of the L.A. Times.

Doughty continued: “We’re playing like we’re scared out there. We’re scared to try things. We’re scared to do the right things ... and that’s why we’re losing and that’s why we got smoked tonight.”
