The Minnesota Wild ended the Vancouver Canucks’ winning streak at seven games with a 3-2 shootout win on Tuesday.
The Wild fought back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to eventually send the game beyond regulation. Jason Pominville ended up being the only player who scored on the subsequent shootout.
The Canucks haven’t lost a game in regulation since Nov. 30, but Roberto Luongo expressed some regrets about allowing Charlie Coyle’s game-tying goal, as the Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s Michael Russo reports.
“Disappointing loss,” Luongo said. “I gotta make a save there on the second goal. Bottom line. I committed a bit early.”
You be the judge:
This opens the “hottest team in the NHL” discussion up a little wider now. Is it still the Canucks? Should the Anaheim Ducks or Pittsburgh Penguins get it with their respective streaks going? Either way, the Wild get the win, and are only one standings point behind the Canucks as of Tuesday.
