One night after shutting out the Nashville Predators in his first start of 2013-14, Ilya Bryzgalov couldn’t even make it through the Edmonton Oilers’ next game. The Columbus Blue Jackets chased him from the net after two periods in an eventual 4-2 in on Friday.

Bryzgalov allowed four goals on 23 shots, losing to his former Philadelphia Flyers teammate Sergei Bobrovsky, who made 25 out of 27 saves for his ninth win of the season.

The Blue Jackets have been trading off wins and losses lately as their record climbs to 10-13-3. The Oilers have been playing better than usual in the last couple weeks with four wins in their last six games, but their record remains paltry at 8-17-2.

It remains to be seen if they hand a heavy workload to Bryzgalov to see if he can turn it around or if they allow him to duke it out with Devan Dubnyk for reps.
