The Montreal Canadiens extended their winning streak to three games on Saturday by beating the Penguins 3-2, ending Pittsburgh’s run at three games in the process.
Max Pacioretty appears to be heating up with his Habs. He scored two goals on Saturday, including the game-winner. While he went without a point on Friday, he had a hat trick on Nov. 19. That little bit of extra help boosted Carey Price above .500 (9-8-2) on the season.
Things aren’t all bad for Pittsburgh, but if Penguins fans need a bright side to look at, they should consider James Neal’s awakening. He now has three two-point games in a row, including two goals in the third period tonight. (Unfair critics might complain about Evgeni Malkin’s goal-scoring “struggles,” even though his two primary assists give him 22 helpers this season.)
Montreal is now 13-9-2 on the season while Pittsburgh falls to 15-9-0.
