Blues’ Reaves breaks hand, out for a month because he ‘hit that fella quite hard’

St. Louis Blues tough guy Ryan Reaves will miss about one month after breaking his hand ... on someone’s face. (That someone is Dallas Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon.)

Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock probably said it best after his team’s 6-1 win on Saturday.

“He hit that fella quite hard,” Hitchcock said. “I know he only played five shifts before he got hurt, but he had five really good shifts. We’re going to miss him, but other guys are going to step up for us.”

Here’s a better look at the quite-hard hit on Valeri Nichuskin, which prompted Dillon to fight Reaves:

Hitchcock put a positive spin on the injury: it will give the team a chance to play Magnus Paajarvi and Adam Cracknell on more of a full-time basis. It’s also good news for people who don’t want to be hit quite hard by Reaves.
