They’re not getting any younger.

But the veteran leaders of the New Jersey Devils continue to help lead their team on a run up the Metropolitan Division standings. Jaromir Jagr, Patrik Elias and Martin Brodeur all had a major part in the Devils’ 4-3 overtime victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.

The 41-year-old Jagr scored the game-tying goal with 1:01 left in the third period to send the game into overtime, while the 37-year-old Elias had three assists.

Brodeur, also 41 years of age, made 22 saves for the win, his fifth in as many games. And suddenly, the Devils are on a roll.

They started the season seven straight losses, but that seems so long ago now. The Devils have won six of their last 10 games and are now third in the Metropolitan Division, four points back of the Washington Capitals.
