There was good news for the L.A. Kings, and perhaps Canada’s Olympic hockey team on Thursday.

Jeff Carter, who is out with what has been reported to be a fractured foot suffered on Oct. 30, took to the ice for a skate along with other injured players Kyle Clifford and Jordan Nolan. All three are now listed as day-to-day, according to LA Kings Insider.

Carter, 28, was placed on injured reserve at the start of November. In 14 games, he had scored five goals and nine points.

The lockout-shortened season was Carter’s best since his final year with the Philadelphia Flyers. He scored 26 times in 48 games last season, helping him land an invite to Canada’s Olympic hockey orientation camp, which take place in August.

The L.A. Times reported seven days ago that Carter could be out for an additional three weeks with the injury.
