Report: Fedorov coming out of retirement to play for KHL club

Sergei Fedorov

Former Hart Trophy winner and current CSKA Moscow GM Sergei Fedorov is reportedly coming out of retirement to join his club as a player, according to Russian news outlet SovSport.

Fedorov, 43, last played for KHL Metallurg during the 2011-12 campaign, after which he transitioned to his current role as an executive.

CSKA -- a team that employs ex-NHLers Alex Radulov, Brandon Reid, Sergei Shirokov, Viktor Kozlov and Alexei Morozov -- is struggling with a number of injuries to key players, according to Andrey Osadchenko of The Hockey News.

It’s believed Fedorov will make his playing debut on Friday, against his old Metallurg club.
