Max Pacioretty managed to practice on Friday after sustaining a left arm injury during the Montreal Canadiens’ season opener on Tuesday, but he still won’t be available for tonight’s contest, according to NHL.com.

Canadiens coach Michel Therrien ultimately decided using Pacioretty against the Philadelphia Flyers would be “too risky.”

The 24-year-old forward broke out in 2011-12 with 65 points and took another step forward in the shortened campaign by scoring 15 goals and 39 points in 44 games. Montreal will also be without George Parros (concussion).

That means 21-year-old Michael Bournival will make his NHL debut tonight on the fourth line with Ryan White and Travis Moen. Bournival had 10 goals and 20 assists in 69 AHL games last season.

Meanwhile, Carey Price will play between the pipes for Montreal and Philadelphia will counter with Ray Emery. This will also serve as Danny Briere’s first game against the Flyers since he was bought out.
