The Nashville Predators have added to their leadership group, naming forward Patric Hornqvist an alternate captain for the 2013-14 campaign.
Hornqvist, 26, will join Mike Fisher as an alternate to captain Shea Weber, replacing David Legwand, who served as an alternate while Fisher was hurt last season.
The move is a further nod to Nashville’s investment in the Swedish forward. The Preds inked Hornqvist to a five-year, $21.25 million deal in April, securing the services of arguably their best goalscorer (he scored 78 goals from 2009-12).
