PHT Morning Skate: It’s predictions time

toewsStanley

PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

It’s finally time to play some hockey games that count and naturally that means it’s also time for writers to offer their predictions. We’ve naturally been previewing the upcoming season for quite some time with, among other things, our Under Pressure series and the 30 Questions, 180 Answers post.

With that in mind, we’re focusing on predictions and previews this morning:

The Los Angeles Kings are a popular choice to win the Stanley Cup at ESPN, but Scott Burnside decided to go bold by picking the Phoenix Coyotes as the 2013-14 champions. (ESPN)

Nicholas J. Cotsonika puts a bit of a different spin on things as he ranks the Top 10 Cup contenders. (Yahoo!)

The Boston Bruins got a lot of love among the NHL Network analysts, but some of the NHL.com writers think it’s finally the San Jose Sharks’ time. (NHL.com)

Elliotte Friedman is big on the Washington Capitals this season. (CBC.ca)

Moving away from Cup picks, the Puck Daddy’s writers all picked Sidney Crosby to win the Hart Trophy, with one exception. (Yahoo!)

Of course, this season will be a lot different than those that came before it for a number of reasons. One of the big ones is realignment. (National Post)
