Former Kings first-rounder Teubert signs in Germany

Colten Teubert

Colten Teubert has left North America to sign with Iserlohn of the German Bundesliga, the club announced over the weekend.

Teubert, 23, spent the last few seasons with the Edmonton organization, playing 24 games for the Oilers in 2011-12 and spending all of last season with the club’s AHL affiliate in Oklahoma City.

Los Angeles’ first-round pick (13th overall) at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Teubert was originally pegged to be part of L.A.'s future defense, along with fellow first-rounders Drew Doughty (2nd overall, 2008) and Thomas Hickey (4th overall, 2007). But only Doughty panned out -- Hickey was claimed off waivers by the Isles last season while Teubert was flipped to Edmonton in the Dustin Penner trade of 2011.

In Iserlohn, Teubert will play alongside ex-NHLers Sebastian Caron, Mike York and Mark Bell.
