Wade Redden waits for contract, shoots down retirement talk

wadereddengetty

With more than 1,000 regular season NHL games under his belt, there would be no shame in retirement for Wade Redden, especially considering the tough market for free agents this summer. He insisted that he wants to play in 2013-14 to the Kelowna Daily Courier, though.

“I want to keep playing, for sure,” Redden said. “It’s hard to say what’s next after that; I’ve spun circles thinking about all that, so I’m trying not to think about it now.”

In the meantime, the 36-year-old is practicing with the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets, who are enjoying his presence to the point that rockets coach Ryan Huska described him as “one of the guys.”

As fun as that might be, there’s no denying that Redden would rather be rubbing elbows with NHL players instead.
