Jets add ex-NHLer Keane to player development staff

The Winnipeg Jets have made a big hire in their player development department, adding longtime NHLer Mike Keane as an assistant to development coordinator Jimmy Roy.

Keane, 46, brings a wealth of experience and winning pedigree to the organization and its AHL affiliate in St. John’s. He is one of only 10 players in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup with three different teams (Montreal in ’93, Colorado in ’96 and Dallas in ’99), appeared in over 1100 career contests and played with AHL Manitoba until he was 43.

A Manitoba native, Keane actually suited up for Winnipeg’s short-lived WHL franchise (the Warriors, which left for Moose Jaw after just four years) but never had a chance to play for his hometown Jets.
