Veteran NHL defenseman Toni Lydman is pondering retirement, according to TSN’s Aaron Ward.
Ward reports that Lydman has turned down a pair of two-year, $5 million contract offers. (From which teams, and why he turned them down, wasn’t reported.)
Lydman is only 35 and averaged almost 20 minutes per game last season with Anaheim. He did, however, miss the last four games of the Ducks’ first-round playoff series with Detroit due to a head injury (courtesy Justin Abdelkader, who was suspended two games for charging on the play.)
Lydman -- a veteran of 847 NHL games with the Flames, Sabres and Ducks -- became an unrestricted free agent after his three-year, $9 million contract expired.
