Eric Belanger’s days in the NHL are over - or at least on hold - as he signed a one-year deal with the KHL’s Yekaterinburg, RDS’ Renaud Lavoie reports.
The Edmonton Oilers bought out the 35-year-old in early July after the center experienced two underwhelming seasons with the squad.
Belanger failed to provide the kind of two-way play the Oilers were hoping for in his stay, but Edmonton remains a little thin down the middle (especially if Ryan Nugent-Hopkins can’t start the 2013-14 season). Even so, Oilers blog Copper & Blue argues that Boyd Gordon serves as a nice upgrade.
