Will the NHL participate in the 2014 Winter Olympics? Will the Coyotes play in Glendale next season?

Those questions are likely to be answered in the near future as the NHL makes its schedule for the 2013-14 campaign. The league would like to unveil it on July 17, according to Sportsnet’s John Shannon.

On the Coyotes side of things, Renaissance Sports Entertainment reportedly came to an agreement in principal on an arena lease deal that might prevent the franchise from moving. However, the prospective Coyotes owner’s meeting with the Glendale City Council on Tuesday seemed to leave something to be desired.

As for the Olympics, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said in May that the league is proceeding under the assumption that the NHL will participate, but nothing is official yet.

“We continue to work at it,” Daly said last week, according to the NHL.com. “The parties have been in close contact in recent days and we hope to get together and get it hammered out in the near future.”
