When it comes to compliance buyouts, the New Jersey Devils may choose not use them. But, that could be subject to change in the coming days.

“We are not contemplating a buyout at this point,” Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello told The Star-Ledger.

“You have two years to do it and you can do it with two contracts. Right now there is no thought of a buyout.

“Could that change? Yes. I would tell the player if I was going to do it, and I have not told any players.”

Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov has been suggested before as a possible candidate for a buyout.

He’s got three more years remaining on a six-year, $25.5 million deal with New Jersey, and is a cap hit of $4.25 million per season.

In 37 regular season games with the Devils in 2013, Volchenkov had one goal and points, to go with a minus-one rating.
