Obama shows support for Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks have Barack Obama on their side.

Before the start of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, the President of the United States took to Twitter to voice his support for his local team:

Good luck to the @nhlblackhawks tonight – hope to welcome you back to the White House again as #StanleyCup champs. -bo

— The White House (@whitehouse) June 12, 2013

The Chicago Blackhawks went to the White House after they won the Stanley Cup in 2010.

“Now, we have hosted a lot of teams at the White House over the last two years, but this one is a little sweeter,” Obama said at the time, according to NHL.com. “It’s pretty special. That’s because it is the first time as President I get to say congratulations on bringing a world championship to my hometown, the city of Chicago.”

He hosted the Boston Bruins the following year -- minus Tim Thomas of course.
