Dennis Seidenberg primed for return in Game 5

The last time Dennis Seidenberg played in the 2013 playoffs, the Boston Bruins ended a series.

Granted, he only played 37 seconds in that wild Game 7 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but many would argue that the German defenseman is at his best when his work goes largely unnoticed. By all accounts, it looks like Seidenberg will play in Saturday’s Game 5 match against the New York Rangers.

At first it seemed like the Bruins would go with seven defensemen, but CSNNE.com’s Joe Haggerty updates that Dougie Hamilton will be the odd man out. (Apparently head coach Claude Julien agrees to some extent that the rookie let the team down.)

Boston was a little sloppy trying to close out the Rangers on Thursday, so it makes sense that Julien is tabbing “The Pain Sponge” in the team’s second attempt to finish New York off.
