Jason Spezza is probably glad to have a couple of days off before his next game.
Not only did the Senators’ 29-year-old forward make his long-awaited return to the lineup yesterday after months of rehab following back surgery, he 1) had to play in a game that went to double overtime, and 2) got absolutely rocked by a hit from Pittsburgh forward Craig Adams.
Per Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston, Spezza said today that the Adams hit -- which occurred in the first overtime period -- was one of the hardest he’s ever received in his career, but that he’s feeling no ill effects from it.
Spezza logged 18:40 in the Sens’ 2-1 win, finishing minus-1 with no points.
The Sens and Pens play Game 4 Wednesday. Pittsburgh leads the series, 2-1.
