Leafs’ Grabovski: I bit Pacioretty

Remember this?

Well, the biter has come clean.

In an interview with Yahoo!'s Puck Daddy, Toronto forward Mikhail Grabovski confirms that yes, he did chomp down on Montreal’s Max Pacioretty during a scrum back in February.

From Puck Daddy:

What about the incident with Max Pacioretty?

“The incident? It wasn’t that much. He was choking me and I bit him. Don’t stick your hands where you shouldn’t. To be honest with you he was choking me pretty hard, to the point where I really couldn’t breathe.

“And I couldn’t pull his hand away at all. I tried to hit him with my other hand, but I couldn’t because he was choking me. There was nothing left to do but bite him.”

So there you have it.

It should be noted that Grabovski met with the league about the biting incident, but the Department of Player Safety opted not to suspend him.

“After interviewing both players involved in the incident and reviewing all of the available video and medical reports, the League could not determine conclusively that Grabovski bit Montreal forward Max Pacioretty,” the league said in a statement.

That ruling didn’t come as a surprise to Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle, who said he didn’t believe Grabovski actually bit Pacioretty.

“Did you look at the video?” he asked. “Bottom line, it’s got to be conclusive, right?”

It’s conclusive now.
