Rangers ‘gave it to them’ in Game 2 loss to the Bruins

The New York Rangers looked to be in good shape.

Tied 2-2 with the Boston Bruins early in the second period of Sunday’s Game 2, the Rangers then gave up three unanswered goals in what turned out to be a 5-2 loss and now trail in the best-of-seven series 2-0.

“We gave it to them. We gave it to them,” said Rangers’ goalie Henrik Lundqvist, as per a tweet from Michael Hurley of CBSBoston.com.

“I don’t think they had to work really hard to get a couple of goals.”

Johnny Boychuk scored the winning goal in the late stages of the second period.

But it was Brad Marchand’s goal just 26 seconds into the third period that took away any momentum the Rangers felt they had, as they looked to even the series.

“We felt really good going into the third and to have that type of goal go in on just a 2-on-2, it hurts ya. It hurts ya,” said Rangers’ head coach John Tortorella, according to a tweet from Sean Hartnett of WFAN 660.
