Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne underwent hip arthroscopy surgery on Monday, the Predators announced Thursday.

The club expects Rinne’s recovery period to be four months, and that he’ll be “at full strength” for training camp.

The news is not altogether unexpected, as Preds coach Barry Trotz said a few weeks ago that the 30-year-old had been playing with a “nagging” injury all year.

Rinne appeared in 43 games for the Preds in 2013, finishing with a modest save percentage of .910.

Only five NHL goalies played more minutes than Rinne this season. Only one played more than him in 2011-12.
