Despite last night’s 3-1 loss to the Washington Capitals, Rangers coach John Tortorella was generally pleased with the way his team played.

“I thought we generated offense,” said Tortorella on Friday after practice, per the Daily News. “You know, we don’t score on our breakaway when it’s 1-0; they score on their breakaway.

“There’s a fine line (between) winning and losing. So we’ve just got to get prepared for our next game. There’s a couple of things we need to correct, but we’ll be ready to play.”

The Rangers ended up outshooting the Capitals, 36-31, but could only get one shot past Braden Holtby, who outplayed last year’s Vezina Trophy winner, Henrik Lundqvist.

Game 2 goes Saturday afternoon in Washington.
