Luongo will start Game 2

Roberto Luongo

Faced with the possibility of going back to San Jose down 2-0 in their first-round series, the Vancouver Canucks are expected to once again have goalie Roberto Luongo between the pipes Friday at home to the Sharks.

Luongo was brilliant in the first period of last night’s game, but the 34-year-old ended up taking the 3-1 loss as his teammates came up short offensively.

Vancouver’s regular starter, Cory Schneider -- also arguably the team’s MVP -- didn’t practice today. The Canucks have only said Schneider is “day-to-day” with a “body” injury.

In an effort to stoke the offense, coach Alain Vigneault moved Derek Roy up to the second line today at practice where the play-making center skated with Ryan Kesler and Chris Higgins as his wingers.
