Video: Quick’s giveaway leads to Steen OT winner

Quick

Jonathan Quick was spectacular Tuesday night for the L.A. Kings.

The 2012 Conn Smythe Trophy winner made 40 saves and was the main reason why the Kings, the defending Stanley Cup champions, were even in Game 1 of their Western Conference quarter-final against the St. Louis Blues.

But if there is one moment he would like back, it’s this one at 13:26 of overtime, when he coughed up the puck behind his own net and Alexander Steen stole it and scored the winner. The Blues, the better team for most of the game, prevailed with a 2-1 overtime win and a 1-0 series lead.

“It’s exactly what it looked like,” Quick told reporters in St. Louis. “I tried to make a pass. He blocked it and scored. I don’t have an option to the left; you try to make him make a decision. And he got the stick on it.”

Here is the winning goal.
