Toronto mayor: Leafs in 6, wanna bet? Boston mayor: No

RobFord

After declaring the Maple Leafs would defeat the Bruins in six games, Toronto mayor Rob Ford extended an invite to Boston mayor Thomas Menino for a wager on the series.

Turns out it’s a no-go.

Menino, having recently broken his leg and still dealing with the Boston Marathon bombing aftermath, declined Ford’s invitation to bet on the opening round of the playoffs.

Here’s more, from the Globe and Mail:

“I was told the bet is not on and I appreciate it,” Mr. Ford told reporters after an appearance at Sick Kids Children’s hospital.

“They have gone through some really, really tough times down there. He didn’t want to bet at this time. That’s fine. I accept that. What happened down there is a lot more important than a hockey game,” said Mr. Ford.

The rejected wager will also give Ford extra time to work on his football moves.
